Thankful Thursday #3

This last week, I have been especially thankful for antibiotics!

Our sweet little guy came down with a high fever last week, and I took him straight to the pediatrician.

Diagnosis: ear infections.

My poor sweetie was so miserable and uncomfortable (temp of 104 -- yikes!), but once the antibiotics and Tylenol to reduce the fever kicked in, he was able to sleep better and has since fully recovered. Thank God!

We watched a lot of garbage truck videos on Youtube over the first few days of his bug.We also watched one of those "monster truck" videos too (he is REALLY into trucks) and I can't believe that people drive those things and survive. One video was enough for both M and for me!

Anywho - he is completely back to normal now, and we are so thankful for the kind and caring staff at our ped's office! What are you thankful for this Thursday?

Thankful Thursday #2

Today I am feeling especially thankful for the Son and the sun!

The sun came back to north Idaho yesterday with balmy 40 degree weather.  You'd better believe we are going out to frolic in it!  And I am feeling especially thankful for Jesus this week.  I've been spending lots of time in my head this week, thinking and praying about my life and our world, and sometimes all I can pray is "thank you, thank you, thank you."

I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday!

Back to the Track

We have had super cold and snowy weather over the last two weeks - too cold and snowy for stroller runs and it is too dark to run outside in the snow before my husband leaves for work and after he comes home.

Luckily for me though, our gym has an awesome little track for running, so that's where I head to get it done.  I prefer the track over the treadmill, for some reason, I always feel overheated on the treadmill.  Also, there is always something to look at while I'm making my laps because the track is on the second floor and overlooks the rest of the gym area: people swimming in the competition pool, playing basketball on the gym side, the old folks walking their laps (yes, that is going to be me one day!), etc.

It takes 11 laps to make a mile (the track is pretty small) so I am the crazy jogger trying to keep track of my laps as I go round and round.  The most I have done on the track is 4 miles, but it is a great way to mix up my running indoors!

January Wrap Up

[I forgot to publish this post earlier - oops!  Better late than never!  Looking back over last month...]

We welcomed in the New Year in Big Sky, Montana with wonderful family time and fantastic skiing.  Then I drove our toddler back home to Idaho across 2 mountain passes while D was taking his MBA exams in Florida.  This Florida girl is pretty proud of that drive!

When D flew back to Idaho, M & I turned around and flew down to attend a family party in Tampa, FL.  We got to spend some extra time with my parents in northeast FL, enjoyed the sunshine and some January humidity!

Then we got sick.  Blecch!  But we bounced back and are now back to our routine - fingers crossed!

All pieces of our home study paperwork are now turned in so the next step will be the home visit.  The agency and our attorney haven't had birth moms ready to view our portfolio, so we continue to wait, prayerfully!

M now calls me "Mommy" in addition to "Mama."  Before he was just calling me "Mama," so his sweetness continues to grow!

I finished reading the lengthy biography "Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman." about Catherine the Second, a Russian Empress in the late 1700s.  I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did - it was fascinating.

We finished the month out with a big snowfall!  So M has been trying out his skis and we built him a sledding hill in the backyard.

A Week at Big Sky in Pictures

Sunday: Sledding, toddler-skiing, snowball fights at the house

Monday: Skiing with my husband and brother.

Tuesday: Skiing with my sisters, and randomly running into our cousins on the mountain as they went whizzing by us!
My sister on the left and my cousin in the green jacket on the right!
Wednesday: Happy New Year!  Scary cliff-side skiing and our annual family talent show.

Thursday: Skiing and chairlift riding with my little nephews - what wonderful memories!

I must have yelled "SHOW ME PIZZA!!!" at him a million times as he went screaming down the slopes!
Friday: Craziness!!
My lift ticket fell off my jacket; once I got a new one, I nearly got blown off of the lift while trying to catch up to my sibs; then they closed the lift shortly after I got off due to the insanely gusty winds; then I panicked worrying about all of us getting back down to the base!  The winds were so bad that the snow pack was blown off almost down to the ice and dirt!  Thankfully we all made it back down and together safely, thank God!  First time skiing in gusty wind like that - don't think I'll do it again and I was very glad that my nephews did not try to ski with us that day!
